After a rather hectic day spent coming up with ideas, saying sad farewells to more folk than usual on a Friday, running around the office, thinking about mortality and having to do as much work as I could, I finally have some time to myself. PHEW!
In a few hours' time, I'm off to Bangkok where I shall be reunited with my former flatmate and definitely one of my favourite people in the entire world, Mistah Samuel Moon! We shall spend the day wondering the streets of Bkk, before we board an overnight sleeper train which will take us through the night through the Thai countryside, our journey ending in the morning in Laos where we shall meet up with Alex and the 3 of us shall hang out again for the first time in almost 2 years!! It's been so very long and I am so incredibly excited! Dear readers, wish me a safe and pleasant journey! I shall report with pictures, anecdotes and general satisfaction when I am back! Till the next post, Peas Oot!

Just a few sentences to summarise life since the last post:

- Night Cycling: 42.3km throughout the night and into the next morning, 1 G and T, 1 can of Red Bull, 1 Rented Mountain Bike, 1 good deed, 1 uber fragile bottom after the whole shebang.

- Party on a roof top: Bugz in the Attic were entertaining but the Humidity killed all hopes of dancing like a nutter (until I got tipsy at the after party, must have been the presence of the A/C!).....

- Workworkwork: Wot can I say? It doesn't ever end.

-Song of the Sea ( a new light show on the island of Sentosa): $30 Million to make this??!! You've got to be JOKING!!

- Redken Fashion Show (part of the SFF): Terribly entertaining and not just the models and dancers but much of the audience too!

Poem of the Day:

Consumerism

I don't need you but
I remember when
I wanted you so bad
I couldn't sleep at night
I couldn't eat a thing
I had you on my mind
Every second of every day

It seemed as if life had lost all meaning...

For I would never be right until you were mine.
But at the back of my mind,
Inside my little head,
I knew that I never needed you yet
I wanted you so bad

(And when at last I had you,
I learnt to love you like a lover).

After a Monday which seemed to drag endlessly on and on, I awoke to find myself in Tuesday, feeling somewhat better, albeit with a throat that was on the verge of being very sore. I think I've just about managed to salvage the situation by drinking plenty of water. Anyhow, enough about the state of my health. I have exciting news. In a matter of weeks, I am going to be hanging out with 2 of my dear friends from St Andrews who I haven't seen in almost 2 years! In Laos, no less! Oooh! I am so excited about this....it's going to be brilliant. I will share more details closer to the time and definitely photos and experiences once the trip is over but for now, I am just so stoked that I'm going to be seeing Sam (Moon) and Alex (Matzdorf) again!! It is going to be glorious.........On a different note, the picture above is a reminder of the weekend just gone by; another one in which I stupidly listened to the booze monkey and bought (and consumed) more drinks than I should have. That's only DJ Yoda next to me by the way (notice my cheesy, tipsy, star-struck mug)...I've wanted to watch him spin for ages and last weekend he tore the roof off with a master class on "How to Cut and Paste"! He's as good if not better than his mix cds of the same name!! And very safe he was I told him, yes.

Hello dear readers, feast your eyes on the beauty of world class ice-skating. The closest I'd ever come to watching ice-skating prior to this was at "Disney on Ice" and my one and only time on the public ice-skating rink in Glasgow where I embarrassed myself by clumsily skating into a girl from behind and having her fall on top of me! Let's not even talk about the latter. Of course, these 2 examples are hardly worth mentioning in the light of these pictures of such poetry in motion, such beauty on ice!! Watching these ice-skaters was like watching the Winter Olympics come to life from my telly! I know more than a couple of girls who would have given up a week's worth of food just to watch this. Oh! I forgot to mention, this was just the main entertainment at the gala dinner I attended last night (for the Russia-Singapore Business Forum) and the skaters were a mixture of world champions, Russian champions and Olympic champions. Ice-skating legends such as Aleksey Yagudin, Victoria Volchkova and Alexander Abt were among some of the many who'd been flown in just to perform for one night and I forgot to mention the most important thing: The purpose-built ice-skating rink and the entire set-up of marquee, table settings, sound system and the rest of the works was on top of a BEACH (and a mostly man-made one at that)!! For those of you who've been to Singapore, this was on Siloso Beach on the little island of Sentosa! How ridiculous....I don't think I'll ever get to go to such a dinner like this ever again. Those Russians certainly know how to put on a show!!
