Am beginning to discover that "email etiquette" is a semiosphere in which I am a complete and utter novice. Learning how to email "properly" is almost like learning how to walk again. Not that I've ever had to learn how to walk again. I hope I never have to though. This is bad enough.Out.

Poem of the Day:

The Pouring

And in the crowd,
i stood,
so lonely,
amidst the noise.
I had to leave in order to find
my voice,
to find out for myself if you could hear me
calling out for you.
Or was I but a whisper you casually ignored,
like the pitter patter of the rain falling softly
outside,
forming puddles as my heart burst its dams...

Poem of the Day:

ill.

That familiar feel,
The aching bones,
The stuffy sounds inside my head,
My blocked nose,
My runny nose,
As I lay inside my bed.
The lethargy,
The lack of motivation,
The need to escape,
As it were;
A feeling so real.

Oh, my head feels like somebody's stuffed cotton wool into my brain, through my nostrils.....yes, I'm ill. It's been a long time since i was properly ill but I have most definitely fallen sick this time round. After last Friday's shenanigans and not enough sleep after, I reckon the bit of Basketball I played on Sunday as well as the fairly knackering tennis I played on Monday (when i was starting to fall sick) were the final straw for my body. I spent a good 2 hours in the office shivering yesterday, fingernails having turned an unsightly bluish-black colour. This morning when I woke up, my body was racked with bone ache so I decided to be good and listen to my body and not go to work. The doctor, who was rather impatient and almost uninterested, didn't feel that I was fatally ill and said that I should be fine soon. I suppose the fact that he didn't put me on antibiotics is a good sign.....cos, come Friday, we'll be having wee drinkies in honour of Tania's 23rd! Hurrah!

Dear readers, today your dear blogger (me!Hooray!) woke up with a hangover yet again (surely not!). This time, it wasn't from drinking an awful amount. Nay, I think I have to face the truth....yes, I'm turning into a bit of a lightweight! How unfortunate, I hear you exclaim! Why, yes. How unfortunate indeed....anyhoo, to prevent this from turning this blog into an imaginary conversation between myself and all of you, I'll just give you a wee post-club analysis. Last night, I went to see Paul Oakenfold at long last. I'd been wanting to see him for the past 7 years so you can imagine how relieved I was to see the man in the flesh! Yes, he looks like an ape with a center parting! In terms of actual dj-ing, he's quite average although I must say that he certainly knows what sorts of tunes to play to get the crowd into it! The atmosphere was pretty electric...people of all shapes and sizes on all sorts of poison, jostling for space on the jam-packed dancefloor...the 2 malay boys who walked around the club, trying to garner support for the "Worker's Party (a local opposition political party)" were hilarious with their little WP flag! I gave them a handshake of approval.
As for the choonage, Oakie played loads of songs from my "trancey past"...waves of nostalgia rushed over me when he played "Children" by Robert Miles and the dozens of other trancey songs he played which escape my memory the now....but most importantly, it was the company I was with that made it such a brilliant night...having old mates like Daryl, Terence and Wong (yes, wongo dongo actually turned up!) reminded me of how I used to love going out and dancing to trance with my boys! And the added company of Val and Tania, my fave pseudo-________ (you girls know what I'm sayin!!hahaha) made the night one to remember (or rather, one I'm trying to remember)!! Now, if only Jeff, Sanjay, Shervin and Wiley (my trance-loving boys) had been there.....

Once again, the hangover for the week has landed. My head is in a bit of a haze as it is....last night was a whole bunch of fun at Velvet and Zouk. Ellen Alien played at the latter and destroyed my head with her pneumatic drill techno. To make matters worse, there were some very suspect characters on the dancefloor, prancing around dangerously closely and invading my personal space. Then again, it was a Sunday night, I should have known better. One of the weirdest characters was this "woman" in a short skirt who had the voice of a woman and the legs of one but looked like a man and tried to get me to dance with her midget-of-a-muscle-mary-friend....YIKES!!! The attention I attract at clubs is not always the best. Thank goodness I had Nick, Tania and Shervin there to run to for moral support....they were more amused than anything though! The vibe at Velvet was somewhat better. Miguel Migs played some of his bass-heavy, funked-up house which got me moving and grooving all over the place (well, as much jacking as the crowded dancefloor would permit). The crowd was a little too old for my liking though. It's hard to be a satisfied clubber in Spore......anyhoo, thanks to Nick, Tania and Shervin for a wicked night. They made the night worthwhile! Mon the next weekend!!
