Right, sat here in Jos' flat in Rotherhithe, by the Thames. It's grey outside and I miss the fresh, clean air of St Andrews..I miss the folk especially. No worries, tomorrow I'm off to Paris. I can't wait. I'm going to meet up with Lynette and my uncle's generously offered me a whole table full of booze in his apartment that I'll be staying at. Hurrah for family!
Last night, went for an indie gig in Old Street and met up with Neelesh, Nima and other LSE folk. It was alrightey overall (the diskettes were great though!). I'm still trying to get used to city living, i.e. crossing the road and dealing with the tube. It's such a culture shock everytime I come down south..and to think that I might be living here permanently should I manage to find myself a job, seems a little bit daunting...London is sooooo HUGE!!!!
Speaking of jobs..I found out to my dismay earlier today that I didn't get the 2 month internship in Venice. I was disappointed but not as disappointed as I was with the NAC.I don't want to diss them too much for fear of getting myself into a whole lotta shite, what with their being a government stat board and all....but in my honest opinion, I feel that they didn't handle the paperwork very well at all. If I hadn't sent them an email yesterday, I would've been sitting about twiddling my thumbs and wondering when they were going to reply. They claim that because of the high number of aplicants, they weren't able to reply to every single one of them which is, to an extent, fair enough. But, if you can't reply to every single one, then at least say so. On the application form, they stated very clearly that ALL applicants would be informed IN WRITING about the outcome of their application within a month of the submission date (I waited more than a month before emailing them).
Oh well, enough ranting from me. I'm bitter, I admit. But I'm also disheartened. This is supposed to be a government-run organisation. How can they handle things so poorly?? I was, and possibly still am, thinking of applying to them for a proper job should I return to Spore but I have to admit that they way in which they've handled this internship application has certainly made me see them in a different light.
Nae bother...I have too much stuff to sort out in the next few months...Once that precious piece of paper's in ma hands, the world out there is mine for the taking! Hooray!!
