I've just survived what was possibly the longest weekend ever....after 2 hours of fitful sleep on friday night,I woke up and got into Sara's car with Bec and Fi and got driven to Edinburgh Airport by Sara (this girl is an absolute legened!)...we got on a plane and flew to Birmingham Airport where we were met by family friends of Leon's and then driven another hour to Evesham (where Leon lived)..we then proceeded to consume copious amounts of coffee and cigarettes for the next few hours before going to the catholic church across the street an hour before the service started so as to guarantee seats for ourselves. The service itself was heart-wrenching. Thank goodness Alex brought an entire loo roll along cos I had to keep reaching down to tear pieces off for my messy face. After the service,we were whisked off to the funeral to watch Leon's coffin get lowered into the ground. This was by far the most painful part of the day for many of us. We each said our final goodbyes to Leon silently, throwing white roses or handfuls of soil into his grave. Anyway, to cut a long and painful story short, the rest of our stay there went very smoothly. Much thanks must be given to the family and friends of Leon who acted with grace and dignity and made our stay there as comfortable as possible. Leon, one fine day the rest of us are going to party with you again. May you rest in peace mate.
